Santas Wonderland - 5 Days

![]() |
Fall for the snowy fells and whiter-than-white wilderness of Saariselka*. Here, you're on Santa's home turf, and you can even shake hands with the big fellow at Santa Resort. It's also the place to see the mysterious Northern Lights. And, because it's a small resort, you can easily explore in your own time, too.
*Fly into Ivalo for Saariselka

Day 1...Time to chillax
Touch down at Ivalo airport and you’ll be whisked off to your Saariselka hotel. There, the elves will make sure you’re warm and comfy in special Arctic clothing. Why not explore Saariselkä this afternoon? You’ll easily spot the indigenous Sami people in their bright-coloured traditional clothes.
Day 2...A big day out
Enjoy a sleep-in if you like today because you'll need to save up all your energy for this afternoon's fun at Santa Resort. This cool park is where the jolly fellow lives with his crew of elves. And together they've got loads for you to do. For a start, you'll meet Santa in his snow-covered log cabin and – as you sip a hot drink and nibble on gingerbread biscuits – you can tell him your Christmas wishes. But that's not all. The elves will give you a tour of their kingdom and you'll meet the all-important reindeer who help Santa deliver his presents. If you're keen, you can give snowmobiling and a husky dog ride a go on special taster rides.
Day 3...It's snow time
Get creative because – if you haven't already – today's the day to build your first snowman. Don't forget to find some sticks for his arms and rocks for his eyes. If you're feeling the need for speed, why not give snowmobiling a try? And if you’re a ski bunny, there's fields close by. Plus, there's also a really long toboggan run.
Day 4...Festive flicks
Forget outdoor cinema in the summer because, on holidays in Lapland, going to the movies is seriously cool fun. On this optional excursion you'll head deep into the forest for a festive film treat. Don’t worry, you’ll be all rugged up in special snow gear and blankets, and there's a log cabin with an open fireplace if you need a break from the snowy setting. Don't worry if you work up an appetite, your Gala dinner is tonight.
Christmas & New Year Getaways
Why not dash through the snow and celebrate Christmas in Lapland? You can fly into Ivalo and stay in Saariselka for three, four or six nights. Saariselka is First Choice's northernmost resort in Lapland, and you're more likely to see the Northern Lights here than in Levi, Pallas, Yllas or Rovaniemi. Plus, if you stay for six nights, you'll wake up on December 25th and can have a real snow fight before you see what Santa's left for you under the tree.
Guests who stay over Christmas or New Year will participate in all the activities of those on a 4-night stay, plus...
Day 5...Santa Claus is coming
Merry Christmas. Today's Christmas Day so get ready to enjoy it in snowy style. Why not open your presents and then head outside for a snow fight? Make sure you take some time to explore Saariselkä because you never know who you'll bump into.
Day 6...Homeward bound
Carefully pack up your Christmas presents and put your clothes back into your suitcase because you're heading home today. But, before you fly, there should be time for one more snowman-building session.
