Saariselka Resort

Saariselka is the most northerly of Lapland's resorts, nestling in a picturesque white wilderness of gently rounded hills and snow-laden forests, 200kms north of the Arctic Circle.

Here in Santa's spiritual home, it is the call of the untouched wild that makes Saariselka so unforgettable, and the native Sami, with their fascinating cultural heritage and hospitable charm, welcome and enthral visitors with their tales and legends of bygone days.

Saariselka is home to Santa's tribe of Saari Elves, a hardy outdoor bunch, renowned for their lively energetic personalities, and whose ears and noses don't grow so long as their cousins in Rovaniemi, due to the time they spend outdoors, playing in the snow, rather than toy-making in one of Santa's busy workshops further south.

You can ski, snowboard or toboggan on the snow-covered hills, enjoy husky-sled safaris out into the wild, over lake and river, through forest and tundra, and for the ultimate thrill, try out the roaring snowmobiles and speed along endless tracks out into the heart of the wilderness.

And nature doesn't sleep! Gaze skyward at night for a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis - the unforgettable Northern Lights. This spectacular phenomenon fascinates young and old alike, and being this far north gives you a great chance of seeing them!

Holiday Club Hotel

This superb hotel has everything a family could wish for on a perfect Lapland break and is an established favourite with Esprit guests. The exciting indoor pool with its waves and chutes will keep the children amused for hours, and parents can watch from the comfort of the pool bar.

The evening meal can be enjoyed from 5-8pm in the atmospheric dining-room and is generally buffet style, with flexible timings allowing you to choose whether to eat together as a family, or get tired children earlier to bed, before enjoying an adult-only dinner later on.

The hotel's main bar area has open log fires and comfy lounge seating, making this the perfect spot to relax over a pre or post-dinner drink.

Combined with the convenient choice of family rooms, suites and apartments, and the superb pool area, the Holiday Club makes an excellent choice for your Lapland break.

Hotel Kieppi has been serving tourists for three decades. The hotel was earlier known as Riekonkieppi, and that was popularly termed Kieppi by its regular clientele until it became the official name of the hotel in autumn 2004.

The Kieppi is a charming small hotel built in traditional Finnish style and located in the village centre, just opposite the Hotel Holiday Club and is known for its friendly informal atmosphere. The main building houses its cosy lounge, bar, restaurant and saunas, with the bedrooms located in four smaller cabins just 10m away.

Hotel Riekonlinna

The Riekonlinna is a well appointed hotel with an excellent range of facilities and a reputation for wonderful food. Unsurprisingly therefore, it has proved extremely popular with Esprit guests over recent years.

A favourite feature is the Northern Lights Lounge, which offers big squishy sofas looking out to the northern skies through huge, wall-to-wall panoramic windows, so you can watch for the Aurora Borealis in warmth and comfort!

Children meanwhile will probably be more interested in the play area and the hotel's toboggans, provided free of charge for use by guests.

The Riekonlinna offers a range of family rooms, suites and stylish, well appointed new family apartments set in woods behind the main hotel building, approx. one minute's walk away.
